Robert Rivest

Residencies

Robert Rivest Residencies give students a unique opportunity to work with a professional mime artist and explore class material kinetically. Teachers interested in text to world and multiple intelligence approaches will greatly appreciate Robert’s workshops. Mime storytelling is a wonderful synthesis of kinetic, interpersonal, and linguistic skills that allows different kinds of learners the opportunity for creative self-expression. Each residency is a tailor-made series of workshops totaling 4 to 5

presentations a day. (Teacher workshops and sharings are optional).

Workshops teach mime story techniques and allow students to create curriculum-based mime pieces in small groups. Students share their creations with the rest of the class, and Robert offers positive critique. Multiple sessions with Robert Rivest offer students time to rework their pieces and gain deeper insight into: character, setting, beginning, middle, end, problem, and solution.

Sharings (optional) allow students to present their mime pieces in front of other classes or in an all-school assembly.

Teacher Workshops (optional) are a fun, light-hearted way to explore movement expression and clear, effective communication methods. Participants also learn a playful blend of centering mime movements, nature imagery, and mindful breathing that reenergizes the body, quiets the mind, and relieves tension.
